For anyone who knows me personally has heard me talk about "the Cursed story".
Obelisk was a story that I had been writing for a long time. Had beefed it up to 20,000 words. I had put a lot of thought and time into it. I was in the near middle of the plot. While writing it just finding time to even put the words down was a fight against time. Since I have such little free time to even utilize. It was my stress factor for a lot of reasons.
Well until one summer. I had managed to get a week off and planned the entire time to work on this magnum opus of mine. It was great! the words were quickly spilling out and I was feeling very accomplished.
The flash drive that the story was on... completely and utterly burned out. I mean, the chip on the inside fried. no backups, no way to recover the file. it was gone. 20,000 words and all the sweat and tears for nothing. I nearly threw my laptop against the wall. The only thing left was the basic outline, an old outline that no longer matched the story i was writing.
So anywhoo... I never had the heart to get back to it. I filed everything away for a rainy day for the off chance that I might pick it up again. Being half a year after the loss of my story I attempted to work on this picture, which could be used as a simple cover for the story. Merely pulling together rough character sketches that i still had in my old file. I had hoped that in my attempt to color this up would spark my desire to resume working on the story.
That didn't work out either. Half way through coloring this, after hours of inking in sai and shifting it around in photoshop... my computer, my desktop, decided to randomly reset. all right before I had saved.
UGH! it was frustrating! I was left with at least the line art but I had been in the final stage of shading.
So again, a few months later. I sucked it up and finished it. Has my desire returned to work on the story? Not really.
okay, maybe a smidge.
